The Egg Language . . .

Around the world there are many different imaginary or play languages. This is where you jumble up the construction of words to an agreed formula with your co-speakers. Play-languages can get more serious when used as secret codes in the worlds of international espionage and big business.

On Teaopolis Egg is the most popular play language as it fits with just about any real language and speaking Egg is good exercise for the brain. Quite simply, speaking Egg means putting the word egg in front of the first vowel in each word. Gegg-ot egg-it?

Why not hold a tea party where everyone has to speak Egg? Send us a video of your Egg Party and earn Tea Miles.

A few folk speak the T-Language. Well, only one really, the Duke of Shangers, especially when he's inventing things. In his T-language he puts T at the front of the first word of each sentence, T at the end of the second word, T at the front of the third, alternating as he goes along.

Example: T-hello, dear-T T-friend.

It's up to you, but we think that Egg is the most exciting play language.

To give Egg a seal of approval, the Duchess of Shangers has, by Royal Appointment, made Egg the official play language of Teaopolis.

So, once again, here's how Standard Egglish works: Just put the word 'egg' in front of the first vowel in each word - it's as simple as that. Here are some examples:

Dirty becomes deggirty
Spotty becomes speggotty
Melon becomes meggelon

Now try reading this line from Hamlet, the famous play by William Shakespeare:

- Teggo begge, eggor neggot teggo begge: theggat eggis thegge queggestion.

How about singing the opening line to the popular tune The Wheels on the Bus:

- Thegge wheggeels eggon thegge beggus geggo reggound eggand reggound...

If you've mastered those two tests then you're speaking a new language, and it's only taken a couple of minutes. You're a real star and well on the way to being a competent Egg speaker!

Now watch out for Egg language competitions and fun ideas of starting Egg clubs and holding Tea Parties where everyone has to speak in Egg.

EggI'm egga Teggapotomus eggand preggoud eggof eggit!
